Closed-loop systems have particular advantages over open systems, and have a very small requirement for makeup water. When the system is operating properly, makeup water is only needed after the system has been drained for repair. Nevertheless, high temperatures and flow control of some closed-loop systems drastically increase deposit scale formation.
